A key aim of our work at the National Centre for Immersive Storytelling is to support and encourage ‘traditional’ film, television and games makers to understand what virtual, augmented and mixed reality is all about, how it can be deployed to tell compelling stories and to provide a space for people to envisage and create new forms of storytelling.
StoryFutures Academy will run regular ‘Experimental Labs’ in different specialist areas – e.g. Documentary, Screenwriting, Production Design etc – to help film, television and games makers find their way into this new form through discussion with their peers. These labs will demystify the world of immersive, demonstrate exemplar content with leading producers and productions in the field and allow participants to get hands on with the technologies and techniques that underpin production in this new form.
Initially the Experimental Labs will be invitation only, running every four to six weeks. But we expect to open up these opportunities up to wider audiences of film, television and games makers by the end of 2019.
